Den/ TV Room Remodel

My client, Laura received a new Flat Screen T.V. for Christmas. So, out goes the existing Television from the 90”s. The existing television measured 36”wide by 24” high by 38” deep! The custom oak cabinet/bookcase occupied most of the 10’ x 15’ space. The T.V. space is adjacent to the Kitchen and was separated by the Kitchen counter with two bar stools. It is a space that often leaves the interior designer wondering, “What was the architect thinking when designing this space?” Removing the huge oak cabinet and placing the flat screen to the longitudinal orientation of the room opened up many opportunities for this small area. To make the most of the space and accommodate the television, cable, and stereo component boxes, a custom designed cabinet was designed by Ron Hutton.

The piece was fabricated in teak from Indonesia. Rodney Hunter Collection in Monterey specializes in High-End Teak furnishings from Indonesia and was selected for this project. A natural, waxed finish on the teak created a wonderful soft, mink coloring. The crème colored leather chairs, soft mink finish on the teak furnishings created a peaceful neutral color palette. The original, beach fired art piece “Searching For Purity” by Ron Hutton was selected. This art collection Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water collection has exhibited in Carmel Plaza and Pebble Beach at Sloan Miyasato at the San Francisco Design Center features this art collection to the design trade.
